So…please be careful in all your holiday celebrations and watch the confetti…it can cause serious injury without any liability for the host. Poor Marvin Treadwell learned this sad fact when he slipped and fell on a pile of confetti shot out of a long tubular cannon at the apex of a nightclub show in Chicago. The poor reveler suffered a torn groin and hamstring as well as left hip radiculopathy into his left leg and foot. The defense asserted that the confetti was not unreasonably dangerous and plaintiff (who was described by witnesses as a fabulous vogue dancer) knew the confetti was on the floor. Witnesses also contended that the plaintiff was actually injured while purposely executing splits during a dance-off and just blamed the confetti to get his medical bills paid. Whatever!!! Splits and dancing on confetti are never good practices to avoid personal injury so try to avoid both this holiday season – and any other season for that matter!
