A Belleville man is on the road to recovery after a dog attack left him with serious injuries. Known as man’s best friend, dogs offer companionship, security, assistance, and other support to their owners. Sometimes, however, they cause serious injuries that have lasting effects.  A week after he was attacked by two unknown dogs, the Belleville man remained in the hospital, recovering from the dog bite injuries and receiving rabies treatment.
If you were injured on someone’s property in Chicago, Illinois, whether the property is owned by a business or private individual, you may qualify to file a premises liability claim. Several types of incidents fall under premises liability claims. It’s important to know whether your case falls under a premises liability category and the conditions you must meet to hold the landowner responsible.
Premises liability is the responsibility that an owner or occupier of a building or property owes to entrants. If a permitted or invited entrant to a property suffered an injury due to a failure on the part of the owner, he or she may be eligible for compensation for subsequent costs.

Happy New Year and Remember No Premises Liability for a Slip and Fall on Confetti!

Your Chicago Personal Injury Attorneys at Grazian and Volpe wish you the Happiest of New Years and want to warn you that a slip on the ole’ confetti will not earn you an award for premises liability in Illinois!

So…please be careful in all your holiday celebrations and watch the confetti…it can cause serious injury without any liability for the host. Poor Marvin Treadwell learned this sad fact when he slipped and fell on a pile of confetti shot out of a long tubular cannon at the apex of a nightclub show in Chicago. The poor reveler suffered a torn groin and hamstring as well as left hip radiculopathy into his left leg and foot. The defense asserted that the confetti was not unreasonably dangerous and plaintiff (who was described by witnesses as a fabulous vogue dancer) knew the confetti was on the floor. Witnesses also contended that the plaintiff was actually injured while purposely executing splits during a dance-off and just blamed the confetti to get his medical bills paid. Whatever!!! Splits and dancing on confetti are never good practices to avoid personal injury so try to avoid both this holiday season – and any other season for that matter!  Remember… it’s always better to stay safe but if you must trip the light fantastic and cause yourself some personal injury, whether at your home, someone else’s or a “venue” – stay with Grazian and Volpe where safe party advice is always free!
